Stroud's Leading Sports Injury Expert

Who Is Ed Voss?

Ed Voss is the #1 sports injury expert in Stroud and has helped thousands of people overcome pain and discomfort without painkillers, injections or surgery.

But who is Ed Voss? What makes him so different to all the doctors you’ve seen before who told you to rest, mask the problem with pills and that you need to take it easier with your exercise routines, sports and active life because you’re not as young as you once were?

Who is Ed Voss, and why does everyone Want To See Him?

I was born and raised in Stroud but having lived in various places around the country and spending a year working and living in New Zealand, my wife and I decided to move back here because we thought it was an excellent place to raise a family.

I’ve always been deeply involved in the local community. I’m a member of Minchinhampton Golf Club. I’m also part of the Stroud District Athletics Running Club and regularly compete in the Stroud Half Marathon in October. Over the years, I’ve played in several bands and been heavily involved in the music scene for the past 20 years.

Growing up in Stroud, I know the community well, and it’s a privilege to help so many people locally get out and enjoy this fantastic area.

Why Does Ed Voss Specialise In Sports Injuries?

I’ve always been interested in the human body. My dad was a local GP, and my mother was a nurse who later worked in doctors’ surgeries. My interest in anatomy and physiology probably began with the quizzes my dad used to give me and my brothers at the Sunday lunch table. I initially studied anatomy and physiology and loved it. Then I thought, “What am I going to do with this degree?”

It was during a stroll around Bondi Beach, where there were signs for physios wanted everywhere, that I realised physio was the path I wanted to pursue. My parents’ influence definitely led me down this road. I’ve been working in the field for the past 15 years and I’m loving every minute of it. Helping people recover from injuries so they can return to the sports and activities they love is the greatest aspect of my role.

What Makes Ed Voss Different?

The reason I’ve become known as the leading expert in dealing with sports injuries in Stroud is primarily due to my approach. I start by giving my clients time to go through a detailed history, understanding their injury journey, the impact it has on their life, and their personal goals.

From there, I create a comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation plan, so both my clients and I know exactly what to expect. We have a clear outcome in mind and we work together to achieve it.

Another key aspect is my ongoing communication with clients. Instead of waiting for the next session, clients are encouraged to reach out with any questions or concerns. They can send me an email or message if something doesn’t feel right or if they need guidance. This way, we address any issues as they arise, making the recovery as efficient as possible.

Proof That Ed Voss is different

I also ensure it’s very much a team effort. My role is to guide my clients, helping them understand their body, reach their goals, and get the most out of their recovery. My objective is always to help them reach their goals – and then go beyond – so they don’t just return to their previous state but achieve the best possible outcome.

For example, I recently had a client in her 50s with a four-month history of pain in her left foot and ankle. She was struggling with everyday activities like driving and walking and couldn’t enjoy her usual hobbies like golf and walking. She had planned a 102-mile walk along the Cotswold Way with a friend she hadn’t seen in years, and was determined not to cancel.

Through treatment, we managed her pain, restored her movement, and gradually built up her walking endurance and confidence. Confidence is crucial for recovery, as it empowers clients to trust in their own bodies. Three weeks ago, she completed the 102-mile walk, even walking alone for a day when her friend struggled. She was thrilled to reach the finish line in Bath.

Another recent client, a triathlete, came in with groin pain that stopped her from running and swimming – though she could still manage cycling. After a thorough assessment, we discovered the root cause wasn’t her groin, but an ankle sprain from three months prior. Once we treated her ankle, her groin pain subsided as well. We built her strength and stability, and she’s now set to compete in her first triathlon in two weeks.

These cases highlight my commitment to a holistic approach, constant communication, and a shared journey to recovery.
